The 2023 Hockey Season Kicks off on 1st Of April

KHU has released fixtures for all leagues in the 2023 Hockey season.  Along with the fixtures circulated by Secretary General Wycliffe Ongori is a list of all teams that have been approved in the various KHU ran leagues. The season features a ten team Men Premier league, Eight team Women Premier league, twelve team Men Super League, eleven team Women Super League and two National league zones; The Eastern Zone with eleven teams and Western Zone with seven teams.

The season kicks of on 1st of April with an action packed Easter holiday a week later. The first action of the season has Daystar University ladies hosting Black tigers at the City Park Stadium in the Women Super League before KU ladies host Amira Sailors at the same venue. Parkroad badgers will play Wazalendo Masters in the Men’s Super league while the day’s action will culminate in a Men’s Premier League action pitting Green Sharks against USIU-A Men.

Further Premier League action will take center stage on Sunday 2nd April at the City Park Stadium with Butali sugar kicking off defense of their title against  USIU-A Men at 6pm. This will be shortly after Kenya police face-off Strathmore university in another Men’s premier league clash at 4pm. In the Women Premier League on Sunday, Blazers will play host to DFG Wolverines from 2pm at City Park stadium.

Defending Women Premier League Champions, Strathmore University, will have to wait until 7th of April to kick off defense of their title when they host UON Ladies at City Park from 2pm.

Out Of Nairobi

Action will continue out of Nairobi in the first weekend of the season as GHF Rift Pirates host Nakuru Sharks at the Greensteds stadium on 1st of April from 12pm in the Eastern Zone of the Men’s National. At the same time in the western Zone, GHF Blue pirates will be hosting Jaguars Development in Kakamega. Kirinyaga Knights will host Impala at Kirinyaga University While in the Men’s Super league, Mombasa Sports Club will host Mvita Vi at Mombasa Sports club at 3pm.

On Sunday the 2nd of April in the only match to be played out of Nairobi, GHF Rift Pirates Ladies will host Nakuru ladies at the Greensted grounds from 10am in the Women Super league.

In total the opening weekend will see a total of 16 matches played in the various leagues to usher in a 23-match action packed Easter weekend.
